Melissa Joan Hart regrets her drug-free birth

October 2nd, 2008 · Melissa Joan Hart

Actress Melissa Joan Hart had a drug-free birth with her second son, Braydon, but isn’t so sure she made the right decision.

“I told my mom and my husband, don’t let me have [the drugs],” she recently told Usmagazine.com. “I kinda regret that one.”

But it wasn’t all bad, she explained.

“The thing is, the healing was so much faster. I didn’t have to get the drugs out of my system and was moving around a lot more.”

“I labored at home for 9 hours and then went to the hospital for an hour and a half - two pushes and he was out,” she said.

“When you’re feeling all that, you want to get that out as soon as possible, so you really work,” she added. “You’re like, ‘I’m gonna push really hard but I’m only doing it once.’”

Andrew Firestone and wife Ivana are expecting!

September 29th, 2008 · Andrew Firestone, Reality TV

Us Magazine reports that former Bachelor star Andrew Firestone and wife Ivana are expecting their first baby in April.

Married in July after dating since February 2005, Andrew and Ivana honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“We’re just over the moon, we’re so happy,” Andrew, 33, told Us Magazine. “It’s possible it’s even a honeymoon baby!”

“As soon as we got married we wanted to start [trying] and we were very blessed and God willing, we were able to make it happen soon after the wedding!” Andrew shared.

So how did they find out?

Ivana “had a feeling in the middle of the night so she got up and she took the pregnancy test and then came and jumped on the bed, screaming and yelling,” Andrew said. “We ended up staying up the rest of the night, laughing and talking about it.

“Ivana’s just been glowing and beaming,” he added

“We’ve decided that we’re not going to find out the sex of the baby,” Andrew told Us magazine. “There’s very few surprises left and I already wasted a big one on Ivana when I proposed to her. This will be our big life surprise.”

Model Camila Alves talks motherhood

September 22nd, 2008 · Matthew McConaughey

New mom Camila Alves, who recently had a baby boy, Levi, with actor Matthew McConaughey, spoke to BabyCenter’s FameBaby about becoming a new mom.  She opened up about her labor experience (60 hours!), how Matthew is as a dad, and about her other new role as the designer of Muxo, a luxury handbag collection.

On being pregnant:

“My pregnancy was pretty easy, but when I hear women saying they loved being pregnant… I don’t know who these women are! It’s a hard thing to be pregnant. Your hormones are crazy. Your body is changing. It’s a major change. I really enjoyed being pregnant, but I certainly didn’t love it.”

About her labor:

“It was the best dance we ever had. When any woman goes through birth, you see what she’s capable of. The birth was 60 hours long. I went through every emotion, from pain to calm to anxious — every emotion you can possibly think of. It wasn’t such a pleasant experience because we went through 14 hours with contractions every two minutes, no epidural, no nothing. Every two minutes I would pass out. I went to the hospital on Saturday, and Levi was born on Monday.”

On motherhood:

“I think the neatest part about motherhood in the beginning is that you start to see the baby grow and develop, and you see this human being that you created with the one that you love. It’s pretty magical… Once you’re a mother, you have someone you have to attend to 24/7. You have to listen to that little one all the time. You can’t stop. I think for the first time in my life I can’t just turn off my mind or think, “I’ll deal with that later.”

On raising Levi bilingual:

“Most of my family doesn’t speak English. It’s so important for the baby. He’s going to know all his American roots, but he also needs to know about his Brazilian side.”

On Matthew as a father, and going from a couple to a family:

He’s the best dad he can be. He’s 100 percent hands-on. We’re just who we are and now we have one extra member of the tribe. We still do the same things. We just take a little extra time to prep, a little extra time to leave the house.

About Muxo:

I’m working on a new collection right now. It’s going to be handbags and then expand to include shoes and accessories. [The diaper bags are] not available for purchase yet, but they’ll be available pretty soon.

Jennifer Lopez talks motherhood, nannies and body after babies

September 18th, 2008 · Jennifer Lopez, Weight

Jennifer Lopez talked to People Magazine recently about life with her 7-month-old twins Max and Emme.

On caring for the twins:

“When they see you and have that big smile on their face – I live for that. And when I put them to bed at night and they melt in your arms. I give them a bottle and wind it down. I say, ‘It’s time for beddy-bye.’ I hold them and sing a little song. By the time you know it, they are asleep.”

Regarding nannies:

“I did it for a long time but we started using a nanny a few weeks ago. [Most days] I get up early with them. Then when the nanny comes, I can take a shower and give them their breakfast. She’s there to help me get things done.”

On getting back in shape:

“The [Nautica Malibu] triathlon really helped get me in better shape, and snapped me back into my body. I don’t weigh myself a lot. I still have 10 lbs., or so. [But] I don’t have any problems with it. I never felt I had to get rid of it. I think you have to love yourself and indulge when you want to, as well as be happy and just have a healthy attitude towards it.”

Lopez also notes that she tries, “to spend every free moment with the babies.”
